Medium: Engraving in its third state [TIB vol. 26, cat. 53A]. After an engraving [TIB vol. 26, cat. 53] by Marcantonio Raimondi (1480-1534), itself after a study by Raphael (1483-1520). The first two states were engraved by an unidentified follower of Marcantonio Raimondi (1480-1534) while the third, consisting of the addition of clouds over the center of the composition and the cherubim at the sides, was due to Agostino Carracci (1557-1602).
