Note
Centered below the composition, the engraving reads F. Gaspar Rinckens Carmelita Antuerpiensis D[octoris] D[ivinitatis]. Friar Rinckens was sub-prior of the Calced Carmelites of Antwerp in 1621, becoming their prior in 1622. He was keenly interested in the history of his order. It is believed Rubens painted a portrait of him between 1605 and 1615. This portrait is now at the Museum Bojmans van Beuningen in Rotterdam.
