Engraving with etched highlights. Plate 5 of Sylvae Sacrat. After an engraving [TIB 7001.382] by Johan Sadeler I (ca. 1550-1600), itself  after a lost drawing by Maarten de Vos (1532-1603). Published in Paris, rue St. Jacques, a la Ville de Cologne, first by Jacques Honervogt I (ca. 1583 – ca. 1666) ca. 1635. Then published, at the same address but possibly as part of other collections of anchorites, first by Gérard Jollain I (d. 1683) ca. 1654 and then by François Jollain (1641-1704) in 1688.

Note
There is a close version of this subject, in the same direction, published by Thomas de Leu (PESSCA 3577A), but the version published by the workshop of Jean Leclerc IV lacks the bell to the right of the saint in the original Sadeler engraving.
