Medium: Engraving [van der Wijngaert 236 and 194bis]. Titleplate border, Misale Romanum. Published in Antwerp at the Plantin press in 1650. After an engraved titleplate border [van der Wijngaert 194. 14] by Theodor Galle (1566-1638), itself on a pen, brown ink, and brown wash design by Rubens, ca. 1613. The Rubens design was traced for transfer. The titleplate border engraved by Theodor Galle appeared in the Missale Romanum of 1613, 1616, & 1618, and was published in Antwerp at the Plantin press.
